Read-Only Data Protection

Let people and tools read the numbers they need without handing them the ability to edit the records behind those numbers.

The problem

Reporting and AI tools are often connected with the same wide access as the systems they read from, so a tool built to answer questions can also change the records it reads.

Who it's for

Companies connecting dashboards, reporting tools, or AI assistants to live business systems and wanting those connections limited to reading.

The outcome

Reporting and AI access configured for reading, with the ability to modify records reserved for the people and systems that genuinely need it.

What STYD delivers

STYD reviews how each reporting, analytics, or AI connection is configured, sets it to read-only access where the system supports that, documents what every connection can and cannot do, and flags any connection that cannot be limited this way.

FAQ

Does this apply to every tool we use?

It applies wherever the system or connection offers a read-only mode. Where one does not exist, STYD says so and proposes the closest safe alternative.

Will our reports still work?

Reading is what reports do, so they keep working. Only the ability to modify records through those connections is removed.

Is this the same as a backup?

No. This limits what a connection can change; backups protect against loss. They solve different problems and are often set up together.
